Transcendental Meditation was founded by Maharishi Mahese Yogi back in the 1950’s and it is still practiced today.

Transcendental meditation is a type of meditation that takes place twice a day for twenty-minutes.  As you practice Transcendental Meditation you will close your eyes and allow your body and mind to be transcended to a calming, peaceful mental state.  This type of mediation originated from India back in ancient times.

It takes the follower some time and a lot of practice, to get into the transcendental meditation state.  It does not just happen over night, as there are many outside factors that usually stop this form of meditation from taking place.  This is why it is important for the follower to gather as much information as possible through readings and lectures about how to achieve the true transcendental meditation state.

Many researchers of meditation have found transcendental meditation to be very beneficial.  These researchers have written much on the topic and have discussed in great depths at elite schools such as Stanford University, Harvard Medical School and Yale Medical School. Not only are followers astonished by the benefits of transcendental meditation but those in the medical field are too.  Students learning about the topic at these elite schools done countless amounts of researched about the results of those encountering in this practice.

All of this has taken place from the follower taking their mind to place of transcendental calmness and peace.

Not only do followers have physical results from their practice of transcendental meditation, but they have psychological results as well.  The need for nicotine, drugs, and alcohol reduce greatly by those practicing.  Stress is lower and thus the practice has given people a more positive outlook on life.
