Healing meditation is a type of meditation practiced by those who are dealing with a physical ailment or emotional stress in their lives.  It is meant to help calm the body and take the mind off of the troubles either physically holding you back or emotionally upsetting you.

It is founded on the same principals and belief system of the Buddhist meditation practices where you have an increased self-awakening, spiritual development, and inner peace.  Taking part in healing meditation on a daily basis will help all of those who are seeking tranquility in this busy and sometimes upsetting world.

Lucky for us, healing meditation is a simple form of meditation and can be practiced just about anywhere without much study of the healing meditation process.  First you must find a relaxing spot for your body to rest.  This can be a comfortable chair with a supportive back or a carpeted floor where you can lie down on.  As soon as you have found your “comfort spot” you may start the healing meditation process.

In order to begin healing meditation, take slow deep breaths.  Feel your breath enter your body and travel up through your toes, up your shins, up through each vertebra and finally exiting through the top of your head.  On your exhale, reverse the process and feel your breath traveling from the top of your head all the way down to your toes and out through your fingertips.  This is the first portion of healing meditation.

Once you have calmed your body through the breathing exercises you are ready for the next step in the healing meditation process.  Contract and stretch the muscles in your face, hold for a few seconds, and then relax.  Paint a mental picture of all of the stress of your life leaving through the muscles of your face.  As you let go of the stresses and problems, visualize your face relaxing and the wrinkles and lines that have formed on your face are vanished.

Releasing your troubles and your stress from your face is the first part of your body that you should focus on during healing meditation.  Continue this process down the rest of your body starting with your shoulders, then arms, fingers, torso, pelvic region, legs, ankles, and finally your toes.  Think about only the region of your body that you are releasing your negative energy from as you are doing so.

As you are releasing all of your negative energy in healing meditation you are also releasing toxins that have been built up in your immune system caused by everyday life and our troubles.  As the toxins and negative energy are let go, your body and mind start to take on a more peaceful, positive, and harmonious state.

Practicing healing meditation should not be practiced just when life troubles are large and you need a way to escape.  Healing meditation should become a daily practice so that life’s problems will not bring you down. Instead you will be more prepared and more positive about whatever comes your way.
